Disk space requirements for LRAOnline 1.0.0 installation ------------------------------------------------------------------- LRAOnline 1.0.0 Setup installs the majority of its files on the drive where the Windows operating system is installed, regardless of the installation location you choose. To create space on your hard disk in order to meet the disk space installation requirements, you must create space on the drive where the Windows operating system is installed. SETUP ===== Installing LRAOnline 1.0.0 ------------------------------------- Regardless of whether you choose to install over a network or download the installation files to your hard disk, some or all of the Setup files are copied to your hard disk. This allows you to reinstall more quickly if necessary. If you want to reclaim the disk space, you can remove the Setup directory. >>> To remove the Setup directory: 1. In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs, and then click LRAOnline 2. Click Add/Remove. 3. Make sure the Restore the Previous Windows Configuration check box is selected, and then click Advanced. 4. Click Remove Folder Containing Windows Update Setup Files, and then click OK. 5. When prompted whether you want to continue, click Yes. It is not possible to install LRAOnline 1.0.0 to or run it from a network drive. However, you can download it to a network drive. To do this, map a network drive to a drive letter on your computer. Running LRAOnline 1.0.0 on Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 -------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: You must have administrative privileges to install and uninstall this program on Windows NT, including the first time you start your computer after installing or uninstalling. You must restart your computer after installing LeaveRegister Assist 1.0.0. This is also true for some add-on components. Installing LRAOnline 1.0.0 with Norton Protected Recycle Bin enabled ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It is recommended that you disable the Norton Protected Recycle Bin before you install LRAOnline 1.0.0 and that you empty the Norton Protected Recycle Bin before you run Setup. Before you empty the Norton Protected Recycle Bin, be sure you review its contents in case it contains any items you want to recover. You can re-enable this feature after Setup is complete. This is recommended because Norton Protected Recycle Bin will intercept the removal of temporary files that Setup is trying to delete, and you could run out of free space on your hard disk if your remaining free space is limited. This would cause LRAOnline Setup to appear locked. For instructions on disabling and re-enabling the Norton Protected Recycle Bin, see the Norton Utilities documentation. Installing on Windows 98 with Novell IPX/IP client -------------------------------------------------- If you are using the Novell IPX/IP client with Windows 98, you may experience problems if you install LRAOnline 1.0.0 from the Internet. If Setup becomes unresponsive, restart your computer. Setup will continue and finish normally. To work around this problem, try one of the following options: In Setup, select the Download Only option, and then run and install LRAOnline 1.0.0 normally. -Or- Install LRAOnline 1.0.0 from a CD-ROM if available. ============== CUSTOMER NOTES ============== ================= DEVELOPERS' NOTES ================= LRAOnline 1.0.0 now supports the expiry of license keys ====================== KNOWN BEHAVIOR CHANGES ====================== ======================================= Software Marketing LRAOnline ======================================= LRAOnline is an ODBC standards compliant client/server "real-time leave away from institution, tracking and management system". To operate correctly LRAOnline must be running on one of the Microsoft brand operating systems. This system must have ODBC drivers for MSACCESS and/or SQL-SERVER installed on both clients and Server. The LRAInstall.exe automatically installs these if they are not present on the target computer. You can use LRAOnline to manage any Institution where tracking of the institutions' people while they are away from it is required. LRAOnline provides a systematic approach for transfer of information around a facility so that a constant overview may be maintained of all its personals movements. LRAOnline also includes a contact management organiser and various reports centered around the person that is being tracked. Other features include meal number calculations if the institution is providing this option and overdue leave warnings for staff monitoring Information. ================================================= LRAOnline NEW FEATURES IN THIS RELEASE ================================================= Ability to add notes to leave entry after it has been loaded by students. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now staff can add their own notes to student leave entries before or during a students leave. Answer: When Software Marketing products initially start they always display a "Product Trial" or "Product Updated" dialogue box. To load your registration number into the specific product you are trying to license. Click on the Register button on either or these two boxes. To register the product correctly you must enter your "Registration Name" and "Registration Number" both of which you will have received from your software vendor or from Software Marketing directly. Once you have entered these two items and have clicked on the OK button the "Product Trial" or "Product Updated" dialogue boxes will disappear. You will also notice that your company or school name will appear on various screens and reports throughout the program you are using. Keep your registration name and number safe because you will need these for downloading future updates to your software. Note: updates can only be downloaded if you have paid for a technical support option. TQLRA300-0001: Registration information on splash screen does not appear just after first install and setup of ODBC connection. Unresolved LRA350: This problem could not be reproduced in testing and will therefore be closed. TQLRA300-0002: LRAOnline Version 3.0.0 - Default scrolling text character set does not appear after first install. Still does not appear when first stext record is loaded. Work around in LRA300: Had to unset/set scrolling text option in Administrator Options then restart application, text then appears. Lists are rebuilt during a shut-down restart of the program. Can’t do dynamically because of the delay during rebuild between leave requests when leave database grows large. TQLRA300-0003: Refresh option under view on the main screen of LRAOnline and beside the change password option don’t do anything. Resolved in LRA350: This option as well as the drop-down refresh option under view are both now supported. TQLRA300-0004: Help file fails with you need to contact vendor on the second, third and fourth times it is opened from the help menu or about boxes. Seems to work Ok everything if you use the F1 key. Resolved in LRA350: Problem resolved incorrect context id being used. TQLRA300-0005: Registration information on LRAOnline’s splash screen does not display initially when first setting up ODBC connection to database action. Unresolved LRA350: This problem could not be reproduced in testing and will therefore be closed. NFLRA300-0004: Kiosk modes should lock themselves at maximize screen then disable these options for users. Behavior by design in LRA350: this can not be done because of limitations in Visual Basic for Enterprises 6.0 (SP2) TQLRA300-0006: Working Online icon on main LRA screen does not change. Resolved in LRA350: HeartBeat feature has now been included. TQLRA300-0007: Left and right scroll bars on the main LRA screen does not scroll. Resolved in LRA350: Feature has now been corrected. TQLRA300-0008: Drop-down menu options in meal-analysis, student profile, authorise and student roll form don’t work. Resolved in LRA350: Using popup Menu's for drop-down menus on forms. These are not accessing the menu editor menu tree on their own form unless the forms' parent that called it does so through its own permanent drop-down menu. TQLRA300-0009: Double arrows on tool and drop-down menus don’t show hidden menu options when LRA main screen shrinks. Arrows are visible. Resolved in LRA350: All screens that have toolbars that can be covered up are now accessible via the hidden double arrow option. TQLRA300-0010: Overdue reason, tried to add an overdue reason. First item added in list. Run-time error ‘30002’ Grid does not contain that row. Leave was updated in database. No problems after restart. Resolved in LRA350: Overdue Reason and Restricted/Other Reason RecordCounters were in conflict. The conflict has now been resolved and tested. TQLRA300-0011: Text sizes under view in student rolls, authorise leave, meal-analysis, student profile and overdue students only displays smallest, other settings don’t work. Resolved in LRA350: These options have now been implemented. TQLRA300-0012: Refresh under view in student rolls does not work. Resolved in LRA350: Feature now supported although F5 shortcut key is not enabled. TQLRA300-0013: Past student roll option move date and time back a couple of times using the up/down arrow buttons then click on the view button. Run-time error ‘6’: overflow. Unresolved LRA350: This problem could not be reproduced in testing and will therefore be closed. TQLRA300-0014: Student name is wiped from the student name combo box in the student contacts area after a new student contact is located even although it has been populated from the database. Resolved in LRA350: Tested and resolved. TQLRA300-0015: Switch from any other screen back to LRAOnline's main screen and tip of the day has been hidden. Resolved in LRA350: tip of the day now appears by default. TQLRA300-0016: Quit LRAOnline in WIN2000 SP4 and an error message is generated. "LeaveRegisterAs.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created." Resolved in LRA350: Certain forms were being left resident in memory. Application termination was not cleaning these up. TQLRA300-0017: If you select tomorrows meal numbers for meal analysis and there is existing leave loaded for today, tomorrows report shows a jump at 1:00am when no leave is loaded for this period. Resolved in LRA350: Problem was caused by incomplete SQL, resolved and tested. TQLRA302-0001: Setting option to automatically start LRAOnline in sign in/out mode can fail if previous selection included the main LeaveRegister title screen. Resolved in LRA350: Option can fail because screen layout combination was selected that did not exist within program. Selection now forces fixed layout. TQLRA302-0002: Error message "[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression 'StationAddress='791084' and where GroupName='Thompson'" when selecting a group and the Current + Future option on the student roll. Resolved in LRA350: Duplicate code removed. TQLRA302-0003: When either toolbar on the main screen of LRAOnline menu becomes hidden or was hidden because of the previous state of the program, the double arrows that allow access to the hidden options are not necessarily visible. Resolved in LRA350: Feature has now been enhanced and tested. TQLRA302-0004: When an ODBC DSN is updated in LRAOnline it is not recorded in the registry. Resolved in LRA350: DSN registering has been extended to updates of the servers location as well as new data sources. NFLRA302-0001: Selection of in Filter by group in Student Roll. Changed to as this is more intuitive. Resolved in LRA350: default has now been changed. TQLRA302-0005: sometimes popup dropdown menus are aligned further down the screen than they should be, this affects all screens that use popup dropdown menus. Resolved in LRA350: toolbar menus had their wrappable property set true. TQLRA302-0006: When student roll screen is resized grid bunches up. Resolved in LRA350: Resize event updated with new origin switching for grid. TQLRA302-0007: Meal number indicators do not line up with actual meal data in meal analysis. Resolved in LRA350: scale factors were of, adjustments made and tested. TQLRA302-0008: System performance is slowed considerably when more than one client is connected to the database. Resolved in LRA350: Microsoft bug in ODBC Database Administrator Q8393002. PageTimout setting on all client machines running our system must have the PageTimout set to 5000 or more. All implantations of mdac_typ.exe (Microsoft data access components 2.1) and latter incorrectly set PageTimout default at 5. Older versions of mdac_typ.exe indicated this setting in seconds, it is now indicated in milli-seconds. 5000 milli-seconds is equivalent to 5 seconds. TQLRA353-0001: Previously posted under TQLRA300-0013: Past student roll option move date and time back a couple of times using the up/down arrow buttons then click on the view button. Run-time error ‘6’: overflow. Unresolved LRA354: Problem was being caused by incorrect use or SQL ordinates. Resolved and tested. Download patch 'PatchTQLRA353-0001.exe' this will fix this problem. TQLRA354-0001: Font size and type is incorrect on student profile reports. Viewing or printing. Resolved LRA355: Tahoma font was not being implemented correctly. NFLRA354-0001: Enable printing of all overdue leaves for the current day. Implemented in LRA355: feature has now been included. TQLRA356-0001: Problems with print jobs can cause LRA to freeze after a print job has been sent to the print queue. Resolved in LRA357: Extra error checking has been added to capture print errors before they halt the program. TQLRA356-0002: Background color for datapoint labels on a meal analysis report are not transparent over the graph. Resolved in LRA357: Background color changed to white. TQLRA356-0003: Overdue students can take a long time to update on the Overdue Screen or may not update at all. This is especially a problem when the overdue refresh rate setting under the HouseKeeping tab in Administration Options is set to refresh at 60 second intervals. Work around in LRA357: The problem is caused by the time zone setting in the windows control panel. Check that your time zone is set correctly. USA time zones are not currently supported. Goto: The Windows Control panel. -Double click on the "Date/Time" icon. -Click once on the "Time Zone" tab. -Select "(GMT+12:00) Auckland, Wellington" or your own time zone from the drop down combo box. -Click on the "Apply" or "Ok" button to confirm your setting. -You may need to retstart your computer or LRAOnline. TQLRA356-0004: When student users complete a leave return it can take a short period of time for their overdue leave to clear from the overdue screen during the next refresh cycle. This results in them wanting to perform a refresh action on the overdue screen to see that they are actually signed back in and that their overdue leave has cleared from the system. Implemented in LRA357: All student sign out or in functions including extending student leave now include an automatic forced refresh of the overdue students leave screen. TQLRA356-0005: -Open student roll in Authorise mode from the drop down menu. -Enter your password. -Authorise a students leave by clicking on it. -Close the authorise student roll screen. -Open the student roll screen again in non-authorise mode making sure that current leave is selected. -Click on the print button, use the appropriate password to do this. -Once printing is complete attempt to exit the student roll screen. -The application freezes and must be restarted. Current leave does print on the printer however. Resolved in LRA357: Staff password dialogue was being opened in the student roll screen modally with the "me" reference to the owner form. Removed the "me" reference to the owner form, retained the modal parameter. Application does nor freeze now. TQLRA357-0001: The first student name on a list of "students in" on a student roll is not indented. Resolved in LRA358: Leading spaces were added to the first name. NFLRA358-0001: Improve license number checking between products. Also improved trial expire status checking. Resolved in LRA361: Improved license number and trial status checking added. TQLRA361-0001: Scrolling text displays in the wrong font and size, as a result text may not scroll correctly. Workaround: It appears that the Quartz font may not register correctly in various versions of windows even although the font has been loaded in the system. To fix this problem; goto into the windows control panel and find the fonts folder. Locate the existing Quartz font. If it is there delete it. Re-install LRAOnline from your installation disk of install file of the website. Reboot your computer. The font should now be correctly registered in the system (note: this will not actually happen until the computer is rebooted). Success can be checked by going back into windows control panel then locating the Quartz font in the fonts folder. Double click on the Quarts font icon and you should see the correct font at various sizes displayed. You should also notice the fonts name at the top of the window "Quartz (OpenType)". ==================================== LRAOnline TROUBLESHOOTING ==================================== ==================================== LRAOnline TIPS AND TRICKS ====================================
